User Friendly Guide -- Making the Most of the Suppliers
This guide will help you navigate our the distributor catalogs. Every month, we email an Azure order form, and a Frontier order form. Hopefully, you will find these documents easy to use after reading this guide.
NOTE: Azure SALES catalogs are available at the co-op. Azure product catalogs are available for 45 cents at the co-op.
Special orders of bulk and case items can be made through UNFI at the co-op.
Full product catalogs can also be ordered directly from Azure and Frontier.
Look local!
- For economic, environmental, and community-based reasons, we recommend that our members FIRST look through the Local to-Date list for products to purchase. Our store has a wide variety of local products available at all times.
- Our local products are offered at VERY competitive prices. Compare these prices to those in the catalogs before deciding how to write-up your order.
Using the Azure Catalog
- Open the Azure Order sheet in your email and make sure you understand what information you will need to include on your order sheet. You will need the Product Code (two letters plus 2-3 numbers), the product description, the size, the price, and the quantity desired.
- Use the Brand Index or Product Index located at the beginning of the catalog to find the products you are looking for.
- For example, if you wanted to purchase a box of spaghetti, you would refer to the Product Index, then look under “P” for pasta, and refer to those page numbers.
- If you wanted to purchase a specific BRAND of spaghetti, such as Lundberg, you would find it easier to use the Brand Index, look under “L” for Lundberg, and refer to those page numbers.
- Consider your quantity needed. As you order more of an item, or if you order in bulk, the price goes down (but you must consider your kitchen storage space!)
- For example, buying 1-quart of Soy Dream Original from Azure is $2.20. However, if you buy a CASE of 12 1-quart units, the price per quart works out to be $1.86. You’ve saved $4.05! If you did this every month, you’d save $48.60 for one year.
Using the Frontier Catalog
- The Frontier catalog is more straight forward than the Azure catalog.
- All Frontier items are located in the front, organized by product category.
- All other manufacturer’s items are located in the final 2/3 of the catalog.
You must either know the brand name to find a particular product, or you can look up a product in the product index at the BACK of the catalog.
Now that you’ve figured out what you want to order, use the Azure and Frontier order sheets to place your order. Remember to include the code, quantity, and product description.
